HOW THERAPY WORKS
NLPt and CBT are talking therapies with specific tools and techniques for personal change. They can help you identify helpful and unhelpful paradigms and perceptions that may be either hindering or supporting you in leading the life you want. Once you are aware of these you can change them and take action to lead a life you chose rather than one you assume.
Neurolinguistic Therapy (NLPt) works to unpack the unhelpful patterning, learned responses, negative language and beliefs acquired throughout life and then to replace them with more positive, useful ones befitting the person you are now and the life you want to lead. It gives you knowledge, awareness, insights and choices that put you back in control so that you will always be able to be the person you chose to be, if you do chose to.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) aims to solve problems concerning dysfunctional emotions, behaviors and cognitions through a goal-oriented, systematic, logical procedure. It is based upon a combination of basic behavioral and cognitive research. There is empirical evidence that CBT is effective for the treatment of a variety of problems, including mood, anxiety, personality, eating, substance abuse, and psychotic disorders. The UK National Institute for Heath and Clinical Excellence recommends CBT as the treatment of choice for a number of mental health difficulties including post-traumatic stress disorder, OCD, bulimia nervosa and clinical depression.
